Our Story

Protect My Innocence emerged after a single incident in a small town Iowa pool during the summer of 2021. After a 15-year-old girl went topless at the pool because she identified as a male, the community of Pella reeled back as the invasiveness of gender expression took hold in its public spaces. Other forms of indecency have also occurred at other aquatic centers in Orange City, Sioux City, Jefferson, and Seymour. Parents, citizens, and public officials found themselves struggling to find answers that would protect the innocence of their children. This source exists to help guide the conversation of gender identity/LGBTQ+ issues in Iowa and provide effective actions for concerned Iowans.
